We receive funding from the Council to help operate the Houses, from the Ministry of Education to help run the Early Learning Centres and from the Ministry of Social Development to assist with the After School and Holiday programmes. This funding and the fees charged for our services cover some of our costs but to keep operating and providing quality services that the community needs we must carry out substantial fundraising each year. This takes all sorts of forms - raffles, Garage Sales, selling calendars, Christmas decorations, books, photos, a Giant fair, fun evenings, trike-a-thon, Art and Craft Exhibition, Art Auction, etc. etc. We make many applications for grants from Pub Charities, Sky City Foundation, ASB, Birkenhead Licensing Trust, Birkenhead Northcote Community Board, and other Community benefactors. These are not always successful but we keep trying!
We also rely heavily on volunteers to help us provide our services. We are also fortunate to get donations from businesses and people in our community.
